Today I will talk about a person who was a freedom fighter born in the land of Saharanpur, who not only happily endured the tortures of the British rule to protect his motherland, but also went to jail several times. The salt law was broken on the call of Thakur Arjun Singh, He was a freedom fighter, a writer, a publicist, the first chairman of Saharanpur district and knowledgeable in many languages. He was dedicated to the country since childhood and started actively participating in the freedom movement, due to which he went to jail several times and endured torture by the British government. The first arrest took place in Mora village in March 1930. You all must have read in history that there were many movements under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi to achieve independence. One of them was the Civil Disobedience Movement. In which the issue of salt was made the central issue and plans were made to break the salt law at many places.   After this, Thakur Arjun Singh's case was heard in the jail itself and he was sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment. He was released on 4 March 1931 under the Gandhi-Irwin Pact. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
